During the final episode of Gossip Girl (I didn't care enough to watch, did you?) viewers were introduced to a young Carrie Bradshaw in a promo for The Carrie Diaries.
Based on the Sex and the City prequel by Candace Bushnell, it stars AnnaSophia Robb as the mini fashionista in the '80s, before she became a journalist and best-selling author.
The trailer features her dealing with love, sex, friendship and family as she juggles high school and an internship in Manhattan, her "first love."

This series will be broadcast on the CW network unlike SATC, which was televised on HBO. Obviously they're going for a younger audience. Weekly sex romps are being replaced with innocence and self discovery. Instead of having a new man every episode, Carrie will have a more consistent love interest: Sebastian Kydd (played by Austin Butler), the quintessential blond, blue-eyed Aryan heartthrob.
The show has potential for fans of Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars and will probably get picked up for at least two seasons. I guess my main issue is that I don't particularly like the girl they chose to play Carrie. Aren't you supposed to like the main character? Aside from Sarah Jessica Parker's obvious charm, she had something special about her. AnnaSophia Robb isn't likable. She doesn't have that coquettish enthusiasm that Parker genuinely possessed. Instead we have a girl that could've been any generic character on a Disney sitcom.
I really hope the pilot surprises me.
